Skin Care Regimen: Moisturizer

Skin Care Step 3: Moisturizing & Skin Moisturizer

Moisturizing is an important part of your skin care basics. Because moisturizing is essential to your skin well being, so it doesn’t matter what skin type you have or what age you are you must moisturize. There are tons of good moisturizers available in every price range so keep your skin moisturized.

Using Moisturizer

The amount of oil your skin produces determine the skin type you have. And your skin type determine how much oil you will need in your skin care products.

When it comes to how often to moisturize, you have to pay attention and listen to your skin. While some of us benefit from applying thick and oily cream several times throughout the day, others may get by with only one application of a few drops of light lotion or gels.

When your skin doesn’t retain enough moisture it will feel tight and dry. Dry skin are more prone to wrinkles, pay attention to your skin and only moisturize when needed.

Moisturizing is essential to the well being of your skin but don’t over moisturize. Over moisturizing is just as bad as not using any. Too much moisturizer can cause clogged pores and blackheads. Pay attention to your skin and only give moisture when needed.

How to moisturize your facial skin

Moisturizers can range from thick oily cream to light oil free gel. It doesn’t matter the types of moisturizer you use, the technique is the same:

  • Place a dime size dab of moisturizer onto your hand. You should use a cotton swab when transferring moisturizer from its container onto your hand. This minimize the transfer of debris from your finger tips into your moisturizer’s container.  I just void putting my finger into my moisturizer's container the second time.
  • Dab the moisturizer around your face
  • Lightly massage the moisturizer all over your face with an upward, circular motion. Be careful not to pull your skin.

Moisturizing Tip

  • If you have oily skin, don't over massage because massaging stimulates the oil gland to produce more sebum, the last thing that oily skin need.
  • Avoid using moisturizer for area underneath your eyes. These skin are very delicate and easily damaged. Use a special eye cream for this area.
