Playtex Breast Milk Storage Kit Review

When I found out about Playtex Breastmilk Storage Kit and after reading about it I’m very confuse and can’t seem to picture or figure out how it works. In need of some convenient way to store breast milk I bought a kit to test it out.

After opening the package, I can see why I was so confused when reading about how all the pieces fit together. Playtex OneStep Breast Milk Storage Kit is convenient but you need to see how the pieces fit together to see how the system work.

Playtex Breast Milk Storage Kit Includes:

• 1 pump adaptor - the pump adaptor is not compatible with Avent or The First Years breast pump.
• 4 liner rings
• 4 nipple rings
• 4 sealing disks - sealing disks snap into the nipple ring to create a storage cap.
• 10 - 4oz Playtex Drop Ins Pre-formed Soft Bottle Liners.

How Playtex Breast Milk Storage Kit Work

1. To create a storage cap the sealing disk is snap into the nipple ring.

2. The Playtex Drop Ins is set into the liner ring.

3. The pump adaptor ring is screw onto the liner ring

4. Screw the breast pump cup onto the top of the pump adaptor. Breast milk can be pump directly into the Playtex Drop Ins Liner.

5. When pumping is completed remove both the breast pump cup and the breast pump adaptor from the liner ring.

6. Screw the storage cap onto the liner ring to seal the breast milk.

7. Set the sealed breast milk up side down inside the refrigerator or freezer for storage.

8. When you need the milk, screw the sealed liner onto a Playtex Nurser Holder. The liner ring will screw onto the holder so you just have to get the milk from the fridge (the way it was stored) and screw it onto a holder. Remove the storage cap and replace it with a nipple and nipple ring. ( I just removed the sealing disk from the nipple ring and replace it with a nipple - just to show you that the nipple rings plays 2 parts in this kit.).

• You can pump directly into the Playtex Drop Ins saving the hassle of transferring milk from the bottle that you pump your milk into and then transfer it to a feeding bottle. Less transferring means less chances for milk contamination.

• Convenient. You can pump, store, and feed from the same Playtex Drop Ins.

• Because you don’t have to remove the storage cap to get to the liner that contained milk, you will not risk loosing a bag full of milk.

• Each kit allows you to store 4 bottles. It’s great breast milk storage system if you only need to have a couple bottle of milk available.

Playtex Breast Milk Storage Kit Downside

• Include one pump adapter. If you want to double pump you will need 2 kits.

•  Liner rings, sealing disks, and nipple ring are not available separately. If you need more of these you have to purchase additional kit.

• If you need to store more than 4 bottles, you need but purchase additional kits this can become costly because each kit only allow you to store 4 bottles.

• Expensive system if you want to store lots of milk for later use.

• The pump adaptor provided allows you to use the storage kit with most breast pumps. But it’s not compatible with Avent and The First Years breast pumps. So if you’re using either of these 2 pumps, this kit won’t work for you.
